Be clever, play smart, and pickup craps the correct way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Crusades, but current craps is only about one hundred years old. Current craps developed from the old English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the birth of the game, although Hazard is said to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s horsemen wagered on Hazard through a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.

Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when driven away by the British, the French headed down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which is acquired from the term for the non-winning throw of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi scows and across the country. A great many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of modern craps. In 1907, Winn designed the current craps setup. He added the Do not Pass line so players can wager on the dice to lose. Later, he invented the boxes for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
