Be clever, play clever, and become versed in craps the correct way!

Dice and dice games date all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is approximately 100 years old. Modern craps formed from the ancient Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It’s supposed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard during a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.

Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French moved down south and located sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair. It is said that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which was acquired from the name of the losing throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi riverboats and throughout the nation. A great many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn developed the current craps setup. He created the Do not Pass line so players can bet on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he designed the spots for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
