Dice and dice games date back to the Crusades, but modern craps is just about 100 years old. Current craps developed from the old Anglo game referred to as Hazard. From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi riverboats and all over the nation. A good many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn designed the current craps layout. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so players can wager on the dice to lose.
